Web Design
There's something very appealing and honest about the simplicity of Web 2.0 design. Centered layout, fewer columns, clear messaging, lots of vertical space, the use of AJAX for logical and clear presentation and elimination of the unimportant.
I try to incorporate all these into my web and user interface designs.
Take this website for example. My portfolio is most important so it goes up top. Nothing competes with it at the top of the page, the less important stuff comes after.
I also make no bones about the purpose of this site: it is so people know I do good Web Design and Development and that I have a lot of experience doing so.
Web & Application Development
In my current incarnation most of my web development is done on the presentation layer (html, javascript, AJAX, graphics).
Nowadays, most of my web and user interface development is done on the Ruby on Rails web application framework.
At my previous day job, I also had the good fortune to work with django - a Python based web framework. In addition, I am very familiar and comfortable in the following languages Java (jsp, struts, servlets), php, asp classic, and SQL.
Regardless of platform, my markup is clean and standards compliant and thoroughly tested against all of the popular browsers for compatibility.
